DOMAINE AUGUSTE CLAPE SAINT-PERAY BLANC 2022

9 Current Inventory

Rare deep deal on this fantastic white from the Rhone Valley.

In the world of wine, there are many good winegrowers. However, there are only a very select few who are truly great, and Auguste Clape will go down in history as one of the greats.

Saint-Péray is an appellation just south of Cornas known for its steep granitic hillsides planted to the Marsanne grape. This beautiful effort begins with white flowers, stone fruits, and a hint of almond in its medium-bodied, elegant, beautifully textured style. This is a classy, multi-layered, impressive wine that will shine on the dinner table now or over the next 4-6 years or longer with proper cellaring.

93 Points Decanter. "Quince and pear. Rich and ripe but not overly so, it's silky on the palate, enjoyably full and opulent, with a fresh core. Includes a new parcel this year of 70-year-old Marsanne, so is now around 90% Marsanne, 10% Roussanne. Vinified in oak."
