Sangiovese is an Italian red wine varietal that is often associated with the Chianti Region in Central Italy. Medium bodied and full of flavor and Italian flair, this varietal has many personalities depending on where it is grown. Young Sangiovese has fresh fruit flavors of strawberry and cherry, but it readily takes on flavors of spice, menthol or tar notes when aged in barrel and develops more earthy characters with age. Wines made from Sangiovese usually can have medium tannins and higher acidity. Fine Wine Cellars offers an expansive selection of Sangiovese or Sangiovese-based blends from easy-going table wines to more structured and complex bottlings in our Cellar in Stowe, Vermont.
