Fine Wine Cellars began as a hobby, with the idea of sharing great wines with friends. In 2006, the hobby became a business created by Roy Schwarz and his son, Edward. As the business grew, Mike Alekson joined Roy and Ed and they soon became business partners. The concept of personalized service, a clear knowledge of the wines being offered for sale and the unpretentious nature of the shop helped usher in steady growth and repeat clientele. Over the next several years, the cellar expanded and a small upstairs gifts and wine accessories section opened. Eventually, Mike Alekson took over the business and runs the day to day operations along with a small staff while his wife Vickie manages the books and tries to keep Mike’s wine buying under control. Today, Mike and Vickie Alekson run Fine Wine Cellars as a family business in Stowe, Vermont where they live full time while also raising their family.
