DOMAINE MAESTRACCI CLOS REGINU CORSE CALVI 2021

This wine is from the Mediterranean island of Corsica.  Although French, there is an Italian influence on this wine.  The wine is made from Nielluccio (Sangiovese) with Grenache and other indigenous varietals.  While there is bold yet high-toned fruit, there's also an undercurrent of freshness due to both the vineyard elevation and proximity to strong sea breezes.  Along with the fruit, the wine has wonderful notes of dried herbs and spices.  Haven't had a Corsican wine yet?  This is a great one to try!
