MEIX FOULOT MERCUREY ROUGE PREMIER CRU LES VELEYS 2018

This premier cru from Mercurey offers all the hallmarks of fine, hand-crafted Burgundy:  freshness, layered fruit and a mineral backbone.

The “Veleys” is situated on a steeply sloping, southeast facing vineyard with extremely low yields. This parcel includes some old vines with the oldest section planted in 1947. In its entirety, “Les Veleys” is small (1.5 hectares) with annual production of approx. 450 cases and represents the most classic representation of the terroir of Mercurey with strength, persistence and a hint of the “animal”.  It is certainly one of the longest-lived of the wines of this appellation.
