SCAR OF THE SEA PINOT NOIR VINO DE LOS RANCHOS 2022

Gorgeous small batch pinot noir.  Fabulous purity of fruit and made by hand by people who love their jobs!

This wine is a blend of Rancho Sisquoc, Bien Nacido and Rancho Ontiveros Vineyard, all located in the Santa Maria Valley. Each block is vinified separately with partial whole cluster, native yeast and is pressed based on taste. Picking decisions are based on acidity and flavor, with no additions other than minimal sulfur during elevage. The cuvee is aged in all neutral oak barrels for 10 months. This wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered. Made as a natural wine.  The nose is quite pretty and red fruited with fresh raspberry, bing cherry, cranberry, a light black tea and oak note and turned earth. The palate is lively with red fruits and some hints of earth.

Scar of the Sea is the project of Mikey Giugni and Mike Brughelli, two friends who love wine, beaches and the ocean. Together, they craft wines from vineyards that are influenced by the sea, with maritime soils and climates. Fruit is sourced from environmentally conscientious growers at top-quality vineyard sites. Their wines are made with minimal input and reflect the site where they are grown.
