PODERI SANGUINETO VINO NOBILE DI MONTEPULCIANO 2019

43 Current Inventory

This Vino Nobile bottling is one of the last traditional wines made in the town of Montepulciano. Winemaker Dora Forsoni learned how to make wine from her father staring in 1968 and has not changed her methods since then.

Everything is done by hand.  The vineyards are organically farmed, harvest is done by hand and fermentation is done with native yeasts. The Vino Nobile spends two years in large casks prior to bottling.  Dora's 2019 Vino Nobile is sultry and alluring with dark red fruit and violets on the nose. The palate is full and ripe, with slightly chewy tannins and plenty of acidity to keep things lively.

94 POINTS, Antonio Galloni of Vinous. "A captivating blend of exotic tea leaves and spices gives way to flinty crushed rocks, wild strawberries and clove as the drop-dead gorgeous 2019 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano opens in the glass. It impresses further by mixing textures of pure silk with cooling acids and minerals. Potent, dark red fruits stain the entire palate in primary concentration. Sweet tannins gently frame the wine throughout the long and dramatic finale, as wild nuances of sour cherry, plums and tangerine linger on and on. Dora Forsoni has taken things to a whole new level here. The hardest part will be keeping our hands off the 2019 Vino Nobile long enough to watch it fully mature."
