DOMAINE GOUR DE CHAULE' COTES DU RHONE 2018

15 Current Inventory

A small amount of Cotes du Rhone is produced from vineyards owned by the estate in the communes of Vacqueyras and Violes.  As with the more noble Gigondas, this cuvee is based almost exclusively on the Grenache grape and is vinified in a fashion similar to the Gigondas.

This is a wine of intensity and maximum herb and spice aromatic complexity, yet is not at all aggressively tannic and its pepper element is present in proper proportion.  There's a clear degree of elegance to this still lusty sun-splashed red that, for all its intensity, is a slice of the south of France that maintains its balance.  The wine is bottled eighteen months after harvest without fining or filtration.
